Equity in the Media

In an effort to keep the main thing the main thing and to not deviate from the sentiment of this post: I’m not agreeing with Kyrie’s actions and LeBron has already made that sentiment clear on numerous occasions. So, let me be clear-this is not that. #DEI

The Main Thing:

LeBron’s paraphrased statement to the media: I was wondering why I haven’t gotten a question regarding the Jerry Jones photo. But when the Kyrie thing was going on, you were quick to ask us questions about that. Let’s keep the same energy when we are talking about my people and what we’ve been through. I feel like as a Black man, as a Black athlete, as someone with power and a platform, when we do something wrong, or something people don’t agree with, it’s on tabloid, news coverage, and it’s on the bottom ticker. It seems to me like the whole Jerry Jones situation, photo was like, Oh, it happened, okay, let’s just move on. I was just disappointed that I haven’t received that question.”

So much to say here, however I’ll let the article, video and photo do the talking.

How is your organization honoring Juneteenth? Marlin Williams • Jun 18, 2022  Juneteenth is not a “2020” phase I will never forget the day: May 25, 2020 George Floyd was murdered. 2020 was the elevated year of the “racial reckoning,” which forced many organizations to evaluate their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, including the recognition […]
